Health Care and Clinical Services

This course offers an excellent opportunity to explore the various career options within the healthcare field. Some particular units of study include First Aid, CPR, Vital Signs, Medical Terminology, Body Structure and Function, Health Related Careers, Dental, Animal Health, Diettics, Funeral Services, Each System of the body - nervous system, endocrine system, respiratory system, digestive system, Emergency Health care, Pharmacy....
If the student completes the 2-course sequence - (Health Sciences I and II) - Two of the four credits may be used as two Science credits toward graduation.

Automotive Service

This program covers every mechanical facet of an automobile. Specific areas of study include: Engine Maintenance, Transmissions, Brakes, Suspension System, Air-Conditioning and Heating Systems, Safety Standards, and Tool Use.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year.

Advanced Manufacturing

This is a three-year program with emphasis on safety in the manufacturing environment, finances and administration of the industrial workplace, plant maintenance, and machining technology. Third year students will receive training/internships with partnering local businesses and industries such as GE and Serta.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per class.

Construction and Carpentry

This course provides the skills that enable the students to compete for jobs in the construction field. Major areas of study include: Basic Safety, Basic Math, Hand & Power tools, Introduction to Blueprints, Laying out a foundation frame, Framing a Floor, Framing a Wall, Framing a Roof, and Finishing the Interior and Exterior of a house.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year.

Early Childhood

This course is a two-year program that prepares students to be caregivers and teachers of young children. Training prepares students to work in daycare operations, teach young children, and make wise parenting decisions. Students work in the in-school lab, Tiger Care, where they teach and care for preschoolers.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year.

Educator Preparation

A program designed for students interested in pursuing careers in teaching and education-related fields. This program provides foundational knowledge in child development, instructional strategies, and classroom management while allowing students to gain hands-on experience through observations and practical learning opportunities.

At South Panola Career and Technical Center, our Educator Preparation program helps students explore the roles and responsibilities of educators, preparing them for further studies in education or careers in teaching, training, and leadership.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year.

Work-Based Learning

This course is offered to seniors. WBL combines work-readiness preparation, related classroom instruction and worksite training. Students gain on-the-job experiences to prepare them for the workforce.
Course Credit: up to 2 credits are received

Welding/Advanced Welding

This program is a two-year instructional program that provides students skills and knowledge related to employment or continued education in the welding field. Advanced Welding includes using mig, fluxcore, and tig welding processes.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year. 

Horticulture

In this program, students study plant structure, growth, classification, and reproduction. Students learn plant identification, marketing, and landscape design. Students gain hands-on experience in a greenhouse setting. Two credits are earned upon completion of the program each year. Two science credits are awarded upon completion of Horticulture Science II.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per year. 

Culinary Arts

This program is a two-year program that prepares students for employment in food service or related occupations, placing emphasis on management or ownership. Students gain hands-on training in the Tiger Paw Café.
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credit per year.

Family and Consumer Science

This course offers students semester classes in Nutrition and Wellness and Family Dynamics.
Course Credit: .5 credit per course. 

Principles of Agri-Science

This course introduces students to the sciences, technologies, and practices of the agricultural industry. Students receive one science credit for this class.
Course Credit: 1 Carnegie Credit per year.

Diversified Agriculture

A Career and Technical Education (CTE) program designed to provide students with a well-rounded understanding of agricultural principles, preparing them for careers in the agricultural industry. At South Panola, we offer two specialized pathways within this program: Agricultural Animals and Agricultural Mechanics.

  • Agricultural Animals focuses on livestock production, animal health, nutrition, and management practices essential for careers in animal science and agribusiness.

  • Agricultural Mechanics covers equipment operation, maintenance, welding, and construction skills necessary for agricultural infrastructure and machinery repair.

Students who complete both years of the program advance to the Capstone experience, where they apply their skills in real-world settings through work-based learning, industry certifications, and hands-on projects.
Course Credit: 1 Carnegie Credit per class, per semester, for a total of 4 credits.

Exploring Computer Science

S.T.E.M. is offered to all ninth-graders and one Carnegie unit of credit is earned. This course includes problem solving, teamwork, system modeling and career orientation using technologies in laser electronics, CADD, bio-medical, robotics, aerospace engineering, and audiovisual.
Course Credit: 1 Carnegie Credit per year. 

Sports Medicine

This is a two-year pathway focusing on the aspects of prevention and care of sports injuries. Students will learn the importance of prevention, evaluation, acute treatment, and therapeutic care related to injuries in sports. Students will learn about the types of injuries that can occur and also be introduced to the emergency services associated with injuries in sports. 
Course Credit: 2 Carnegie Credits per class.

Exploring Computer Science

ECS is a survey course that introduces students to the breadth of the computer science field. The course lays a foundation in problem solving, critical thinking, and algorithmic development and then introduces students to the basics of Web development, programming, robotics, data science, and artificial intelligence.
