CTE Overview

Career and technical education prepares both youth and adults for a wide range of careers, from registered nurse to computer technician. These careers may require varying levels of education from high school to postsecondary certificates to two- and four-year college degrees.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 18 of 20 fastest growing occupations within the next decade will require career and technical education.

South Panola High School offers 11 career and technical education programs. For more information about these programs, contact the Career and Technical Counselor at 563-6094.

Message from Coach Trea Higdon, CTE Director

The South Panola Career and Technical Center (CTE) is committed to equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in both college and the workforce. Our diverse range of programs provides hands-on learning experiences that align with industry standards, ensuring that students graduate career-ready.

We proudly offer 11 competitive two-year programs, including Advanced Manufacturing, Culinary Arts, Health Science, Welding, and more. Admission into these programs is selective, requiring students to meet specific prerequisites to ensure they are prepared for the rigorous training and industry certifications available.

In addition to our full CTE programs, we provide five enhancement courses designed to introduce students to various career pathways and essential workforce skills. These courses serve as a foundation for students exploring career options before committing to a specific program.

The South Panola CTE Center takes pride in fostering strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations, ensuring that our students receive real-world experiences and opportunities that will benefit them beyond the classroom.

As the CTE Director, I am proud of the dedication of our students, teachers, and community partners who work together to ensure that South Panola students are fully prepared for their futures. Whether students plan to enter the workforce immediately after high school, attend college, or pursue advanced training, our programs are designed to set them on the right path.
